how do you keep your family healthy?

Every single year it happens.

As soon as November hits, I brace myself….

Snotty noses.

Croup (which sends us to the ER every single time!).

Stomach flu.

Coughs.

My precious children with compromised immune systems get it every single year. It’s awful for them.

While I realize that they will more than likely always have immune systems which are not quite as strong as my other children, I would love for them to be as healthy as they can possibly be.

We try to eat as healthy as possible.  And since Hailee and Harper are now both completely gluten-free and dairy-free, we are eating even healthier than ever before.  I try to do everything I possibly can to keep my children healthy through the winter (and other months too), but sometimes I simply run out of ideas.  While there is so much out there–every potion and vitamin promising to be the next best thing for your family–sometimes it’s hard to know what really works.  And of course, trying every new remedy that hits the market can become outrageously costly.

As we have been hit with the stomach flu again, I have been thinking about the long winter months ahead of us and wondering what more I can do as a mom and wife to keep my family as healthy as I possibly can.  I would imagine that some of you are wondering the same thing.

One of the things I absolutely love about blogging is the many opportunities I have had to glean wisdom from you, the amazing people who read here.  So I was wondering if some of you would be willing to share with me (and others) your secrets to keeping your family healthy (especially through the long winter months)?

~~~  Do you use humidifiers? Do cold steam or warm steam humidifiers work best?
~~~  Which vitamins and supplements help to keep the common colds out of your home?

~~~  When your children do get colds/snotty noses, what remedies work best?
Add anything else you would like to share that would be a blessing to anyone like me who is looking to keep their children and families as healthy as possible.  Mom-tested advice is the best there is!
I would absolutely love to hear from you.  Please just leave a comment to share what works for your family.
Thanks a ton for sharing your advice!
