rocking daddy and other stuff

This week we celebrated Anthony’s birthday in true style.  We pretty much only go out to eat when a family member celebrates their birthday.  We make their day special by allowing the birthday boy or girl to choose where they would like to eat out.  It’s a huge treat.  So as soon as Anthony opened his little eyes yesterday morning the kids started asking him…

“Where are we going to eat tonight, Dad?”

“Dad, have you decided yet?”

“Hey, Dad, you thought about what you want to eat tonight?”

My dear husband…he’s such a trooper.  Dude totally picked that awful place where the giant rat hangs out and ten thousand tokens get eaten up faster than a hungry kid can eat a piece of pizza.  Of course, the kids totally thought he was the best Dad ever for choosing a place that they never get to visit on HIS birthday.  Rocking Daddy!

I am so thankful for the man God gave me.  He loves with all his heart.  It’s a wonderful feeling being so in love even after all these years together.

Happy birthday, Honey.  I love you better.

So. Just in case you wondered whether I was totally exaggerating about being a complete dork in this post.  Nope!  Yesterday my sons were talking about music.  Being the very “with it” Mom that I am, I asked them about that “Jason Bieber” guy.  Yup…sure did.

Their response?  “Mom, you are so not in the now!”  Then, they almost fell over backwards laughing.

Clearly I need help.

Jason, Justin, Jasper, Johnny.  Whatever.

Life has been so busy as I have been wrapping up Vanya’s giveaway.  Quite a job….but oh so very worth every hour that has gone into it.  If you are one of the many who has recently e-mailed me and not received a response, I am so sorry.  My inbox runneth over.  I read every note sent to me and pray for all your requests, but in this season it is humanly impossible for me to respond to them all.  I apologize.  I wish I had more hours in my day.

I cannot even tell you how many questions I have received about adoption in general.  I am working on a post and hope to have it up soon.  So hang tight, I’ll answer all your answers soon.

Oh my goodness, so many have written and asked me if Vanya’s family will blog their journey.  I’m happy to tell you that they will.  Blogging is new to them so this is a huge leap of faith, but they’re happy to have us happy stalkers follow along.  I’ll send you their way just as soon as I have a blog address.  So very exciting.

Something else that is so super exciting is that today I will be taking a little trip up north.  I’m finally going to see a little lovie who, at one point, I wondered if I would ever see again.  I fell in love. She stole my heart last year.  I can hardly wait to see her again–the little girl who has my name as her middle name.  She is living proof that nothing, absolutely nothing, is impossible for the Lord God Almighty.   What a sweet blessing from the Father that I get to welcome Julia home.

You bet, I’ll take a whole bunch of pics!  I cannot wait to come back and show you all.

Also, I wanted to ask you to prayerfully consider helping a few families desperately needing the last of their funds to bring their children home….

My friend, Holly, is fundraising for the Scoda family.  The Scoda’s were hit hard by the recent tornadoes that swept through North Carolina.  They are traveling to Eastern Europe in just a few weeks to bring their sweet little boy home.  Trying to deal with the costs of the extensive damages to their home plus find the last of their adoption funds has been such a journey of faith for this sweet family.  Holly has a wonderful fundraiser happening for them.

Connie and her family are traveling soon to bring their two sweethearts home.  This family has huge hearts for the fatherless.  They trust the Lord for every penny they need to bring their treasures home.  They have one of those fancy Xoom thingys up for grabs.  Just a few more days to get in on the action.  Please consider helping out.

The Hinz family are in Ukraine right now adopting two precious two children from Hailee and Harper’s orphanage.  We met them last year and their hearts were so moved to adopt.  So they did!  They are bringing home two of the Lord’s most beautiful angels.  They have an iPad giveaway on their blog and are still short a lot of the money to complete their adoption.

If any of you know Renee Tam, you will know that she has one of the biggest hearts around.  Seriously.  The Tams are adopting Paisley from Eastern Europe and are still so short on their funds.  Renee is baking up a storm to raise money.  This girl can bake!  Paisley’s Pantry is now open for orders.  Go buy some calories for a GREAT cause.

And then, there’s sweet Miss Duffy.  A young girl with such a passion for orphans.  At the tender age of 14, she is doing it–finding ways to help orphans.  Courtney has set up a blog to raise money for one little girl desperately needing a family, and a ministry in Ukr*ine that visits orphans (they do amazing work).  An iPad 2 up for grabs.

Okay, that’s all I know of who are urgently requiring funds.  I’ve been a bit out of the loop recently.  If there is anyone else who could use a little help with their fundraisers, please feel free to leave a comment with the details.

Be blessed in all you do, friends.
